Nothing to do with talent mate, just a bit of experience :) Which
means, it'll come with time.
Anyhow, here you go.
Somewhere in your KDE Menu you'll find something called "Terminal
Emulator" or something.
Open that up. It'll confront you with a terminal window. Nice Black
and whitish looks. You'll see what I mean.
Enter the following text "sudo apt-get install firefox" and hit enter.
It'll ask you for a password, just enter yours - it should work - if
you are the one who has installed the system.
And that's already all you have to do. Wait for it to finish, close
the window, and somewhere in your Menu, probably under Internet or
networking, you'll find Firefox.

What might be wrong?

Hi
If I want to do a backup of a folder (/home) an a mounted disk, rdiff-backup
shows me an error message: Fatal Error: Destination directory
/media/home
exists, but does not look like a rdiff-backup directory. Running
rdiff-backup like this could mess up what is currently in it. If you
want to update or overwrite it, run rdiff-backup with the --force
option.
The partition is empty, only contains a lost+found folder.
/media/home is a partition on an extern HD connected by USB. It has right
permissions to read and write on it, it is my own:
alex@kubuntu:/media/home$ ls -la
total 24
drwxrw-rw- 3 alex alex 4096 2007-06-17 10:40 .
drwxr-xr-x 24 alex alex 4096 2007-06-17 10:27 ..
drwxrw-rw- 2 alex alex 16384 2007-06-17 00:00 lost+found
The system is a kubuntu 7.04 with rdiff-backup 1.1.5.
What's going wrong there?
Thanx
Al

Hi,
both my current mobile phone and my digital camera are
damaged and need replacement. I'd be glad to carry around
a single compact device instead of a whole collection.
I've seen advertisements for devices combining mobile phone,
decent camera, gps, media player etc., which seem quite
interesting (if expensive). Example: Nokia N95
Question: does anyone have experience with such all-in-one
devices and synchronisation thereof with GNU/Linux software?
With synchronisation, I mean access to address book, sms/mms,
photos, up/download of GPS maps, mp3s etc.
Does anyone have recommendations for such devices and/or
software?
Note: due to my employment situation, I'll have to stay with
LuxGSM as provider (in case that matters).
Greetings & thanks,
Eric
Hi,
I'm currently trying to share my printer using cups.
Setup:
Router 1:
internal: 192.168.178.1/24
external: ADSL dynamic
Client:
connected to router 1, IP 192.168.178.22/24
Kubuntu 6.10
Router 2:
WAN connected to router 1, Wan-IP 192.168.178.2/24
Lan-IP 192.168.1.1/24
Server connected to router 2, IP 192.168.1.2/24
Kubunu 7.04
Routing configured on router 1 and 2, ping client--> server an server-->client
works.
However I'm unable to see the shared printer on the client. Is there sth
special to configure in cupsd.conf to get it working across different
subnets? while client+server were on the same subnet it worked great.
greetings
Jang
Hi
How can I listen to an mms stream over a proxy? I haven't found a
media-player that does do this.
In Windows it perfectly works. I think that it does it over the proxy.
The URL is: mms://wm.streampower.be/4m
Thanx
Al
