Hi all,
As most of you might know I'm working at the mineco where we have a very
nice project called CASES (http://www.cases.lu/) about awarenesss raising
in IT security. We want to be vendor independant (legal obligation as
government) and as such attach our best practices with "real life"
examples. However at the moment we only have the M$ world represented (see
http://www.cases.public.lu/pratique/solutions/index.html) still seeking
for people providing use with screenshot procedures from the GNU/Linux
world.
For this we thought of using SUSE and a Fedora as model GNU/Linux systems.
If anyone (or his company) here on the list would be interessted to do
this job, we would be very glad ;)
N.B.: However this will be a no-remuneration job, all we can provide is
"advertising" via a CASES-partner thing ! So if one could do this on
behalf of LiLux it would be great, cause then we (LiLux) would be linked
on one of the biggest gov sites here in Lux ;)
Hope you could tease some of you and I'm looking forward for proposals ;)
ciao,

Hi
I try here to connect to a novell volume. ncpmount gives me the error
mesasage:
can't find the server.
I tried to connect to the server using his name, but this fails, I use its
IP, this fails too.Every time the same error message. Is it perhaps IPX
related?

Dear all,
A collegue of mine came accross an application that
uses openssl/gnupg (that's what the commercial told
him).
But on their website, we couldn't find anything
related to the GPL or to openssl/gnupg.
Also, the application isn't available for download.
I have a few questions in regard to this.
- Is this in agreement with the GPL?
- Don't they have to mention they are using openssl?
- In what extend can they use it and no more need to
tell people about it? For example, if they modify the
source can they redristibute without making their
product availbe for download?
Thanks for your answers :)
Paulo

Hi
I use Firefox 1.0.1 and whats makes me crazy is the fact, that it opens a
new tab while clicking on the mouse wheel.
Since this mouse is a devilsoft one, the click on the mouse wheel behaves
too easy and when I read a text ion the net, I scroll using the wheel, and
the browser opens a new tab, indicating an error message.
That isn't funny anymore and begins really annoying.
How can I turn off this behaviour?

Hi
I tried to install the ftp version of SuSE 9.2.9 (9.3 Beta) on the Hard Disk.
It fails at boot finding the boot device (dev/sda7). I installed the
kernel on this partition (logical), but after reboot, it gives me the
error message:
resume /dev/sda7......Can't find device /dev/sda7.
Help wwanted.
Thanx

greetings,
i tried ubuntu (warty warthog), and got pleasantly surprised by the ease
of installation.
no problem with the usb mouse (unlike debian woody), nor with the
network device (unlike debian sarge which got caught in a loop,
detecting my network device over and over again) and no problem either
with the dvi connection of the lcd monitor (unlike fedora core 3 which
suddenly went black during install or even knoppix, which only worked in
framebuffer mode). as ubuntu is based on debian, i really wonder why it
didn't have the same problems during install, maybe because of different
versions of the installer.
if you have a slow internet access, the over 100 MB of updates it
downloads after installation can be painful though. unlike suse 9.1, it
didn't automatically mount the windows partitions that were on the same
hd, but ubuntu did recognize my usb stick automatically, something suse
failed at.
from my personal experience, ubuntu has been the easiest distro to
install i tried yet. if others had similar positive experiences with
ubuntu, i guess it could be added to the list of recommended distros for
linux newbies.
best regards,
kymon
