Hi all,

The Linux Kongress is taking place from September 7th to 10th in
Erlangen, Germany.
It is a very technical series of tutorials and presentations.
(Very) High-level people from the Linux (I might add GNU/, but there
really are kernel guys ;-)) developers community will be there to
present their work.
The proceedings are in english.
If you're interested, be quick to register & pay, as it will
Rather hefty non-free prices...
Is it REALLY worth it?
I was there (on company budget) the last two years, Koeln and
Saarbruecken. Yes, the information you get and the contacts you'll
get are worth it - if you need them anyway.
You'll notice very famous names on the program - Rusty Russell,
Jon "maddog" Hall, Ted Ts'o, Harald Welte, Lars Marowsky-Bree,
Felix von Leitner, Ralf Spenneberg, Werner Almesberger etc. etc.
are well-known "Guru"s.
Allthough if you are an early bird plus GUUG member it
sums up to 270
for the 4 days...
:-) any GUUG members in our midst? I've calculated at 360 EUR (if
registering before 15.8. and paying before 20.8.) - depending on
your company's financial division, meeting that payment date may
be tricky.
get you a
tariff reduction - no reduction available for being
LiLux member, I'm afraid.
That is a shame :(
Indeed. We may want to get good contacts with GUUG, and get LiLux
on that list (since we're not strictly Linux-only, but also do other
free OSs like *BSD). Last year they gave reductions for LUG members,
this year that's not true any more.
Oh, btw - the 6th September there's the LinuxDays business track
at the SI Expo (the monday right before the LinuxKongress, which
goes from tuesday to friday).
