This is a true synchronisation tool, that copies newer files both
directions to build two identical copies of the same filesystem. It
creates a new problem, which is the case when a file has been modified
on both sides a different way. The solution found is that a self-made
script is called with parameters giving the name of the files to
synchronise, giving the user of the unison tool freedom to implement its
own way to solve the issue.
Very valuable tool, that I used on VPN on Internet internationaly. A
single problem: if the synchronisation process gets broken (the VPN
stops, the DSL IP address changes, ...), the entire file on its way to
be copied must be re-copied. This is a problem especially when
synchronising DVD iso images.
