Hi , to all Lilux Users,
We have migrated some of our AIX and Solaris Programs to Linux with some
success. We are
hitting only smaller "features" like this one where we find no real
explanations , even by googling.
So the problem is when we kill one process all the processes of the user
are killed. But to make it
more complicated not all the time , so it is not reproductible.
If someone knows a hint to this ....
Thanks in advance

I'd guess the other processes depended from that shell/java stuff.
Your problem is that once the parent process is gone, its "sons"
don't get reattached to init, but die too -> you'd have to detach
them from that parent shell (for instance, calling them with
nohup or somesuch).
I'm sure someone else can explain in more detail, I'd have to look
this up myself. Anyone?
Greetings, Eric
