Actually, I'm not sure if this corresponds to Al's question.
In the features list [2] of dvdrip [1] I see lots of options
on converting a DVD to some sort of video CD, but not something
to burn back to DVD (you know, thos DVD+-*/%RW burners are
getting cheap enough for everybody).
I'd also be very interested in having a simple-to-use and fast
way of ripping a DVD so I could select what exactly I want from
the original, and scaling the MPEG stream to get the maximum
size available on DVD-R. There is such a thing on Winblows and
MacOS, but I'm not aware of any such FOSS (any problems with
DVD Forum/MPAA/whoever set aside).
