Thank you Miro.
I already tried Vinux (based on Ubuntu, but unstable), and also Fedora
with the Orca magnifier under Gnome.
The problem is my computer which is relatively old, but soon I'll buy a
new one.
Thank you for the links to the Koppix Live CD project, (I heard about
it), and particularly for the link to the Debian user.
With my new computer, I'll dual-boot Debian with W7.

Hello Dominique,
Welcome to the list! I believe there are a number of Linux
distributions tailored to visually impaired users. Vinux is the first
that came to my mind. This is the link to the project's website:

The Knoppix creator, Klaus Knopper, has implemented some time ago a
booting option to the Knoppix Live CD called ADRIANE (named after his
wife, I believe). When this option is invoked, the live CD should boot
in talking mode and supporting Braille out of the box:

One of the Debian developers also offers some interesting tips on his
website:

I hope this information will help you to progressively introduce
yourself into the Linux world. We are here to help.
Kind regards,
Miro

Hi all,
I am new on the list, and very happy to join you!
I am still using Windows as being visually impaired, but I run Cygwin
on it from where I manage my machine.
Waiting to read your messages about Linux...
Dominique
