I saw memory problem with different browsers since a long time (firefox,
opera and other)
the only interesting things was to disable flash: just move
libflashplayer.so somewhere else
(with SuSE I move it on seamonkey folder, just in case to have flash if
needed)
Some add-ons like Session Manager or Sessionsaver can help you to close
and reopen browser to recover memory.
I use xosview to see what appends with my memory,
color codes are:
- blue used+shared
- orange buffer
- red cache
- green: free
usually: free memory doesn't exist, system just use it as cache.
With my SuSE 10.1 I'm usually after reboot with less than 200Mo in blue,
after 2 weeks it grow more than 600Mo ... it's X process who eat my memory.
Since I install proprietary nvidia driver I try actually to stay with nv
and see what appends !

Laurent.

Hi
I have a little problem with Firefox.
I use this browser for different things, e.g. for webmail. So it stays
the all day open.
I now have the problem that firefox eats my ressources as a pacman :)
After a few hours of turning (4-5), it crunches(!) over 50% of the
memory.
I close then firefox and open it right after.
Is that normal or what happens?
Thanx
Al
