Hi I recently upgraded via YOU to this kernel and since then, I can't mount any CDROM Drive. The kernel always says: No medium found. I thought that it was an error in my bios settings, but in Knoppix all went fine. Before I do a downgrade to my previous kernel, I want to ask if someone heard about bugs of this kernel-version. If you had a 2.4 krnel before it might be related to ide-scsi a module emulating scsi over ide (plus-minus), which handels CDROM differently as /dev/sr0 I think

I thought that it was an error in my bios settings, but in Knoppix all went fine.

Knoppix has almost everything active in the kernel so it might explain this phenomenon.

We are using this very kernel version on lots of hosts, and no such problems to report. Sorry. Does the light of your CDRom drive blinks ? Does it start to read the CD ? Does it close if it is open when you enter the mount command ? Do you have autofs or other automatic services that interacts ? Is it only a CDReader or also a writer ?
