Hi
I have a problem installing kubuntu 7.04 on a Dell PowerEdge 2500. At a
certain point, the CD can't be read: readerrors and problems with
squashfs.
I googled for the problem, saw that I am not the only one having this
problem, but found no clue.
Perhaps, someone of you gets a clue

Maybe a bad CD?
I had a case recently (on an MSI laptop) where it also had trouble reading
a CD. In that case the drive was not seen at all. No read-errors, because
it didn't even attempt to read, it just dropped me back to a shell.
I noticed that the drive became visible after a modprobe ide-generic.
However, that didn't really help, as there was no (obvious) way to resume
installation. Also, specifying hdb=ide-generic on the grub commandline
didn't help (a similar line helped with SuSE).
So I ended up installing it over the network via PXE
Your case might be different though, as you do get readerrors, and it sees
that there is a squashfs ==> so it manages to at least read _some_ data off
the CD. Which probably means, bad drive, or bad CD.
