hi,
if you want native compatibility, and want some 54g nic, get one with a prism
chipset.
netgaer or dlink are very good.
(i got a netgear pcmcia + ap)
check this link:
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/Wireless.html
and see here for a compatibility list + what card has what chipset:
http://www.linux-wlan.org/docs/wlan_adapters.html.gz
also check out:
www.linuxant.org
linuxant is a (commercial ~20€) kernel module (2.4 2.6) which allows you to
load a windows driver for you card.
work pretty well and isn't that expensive.
feel free to ask if you have any more questions....or maybe somebody else has
some more additions ?

Hello,
I think about getting a wireless pci nic, and I would like to ask which
one I should actually buy... :-)
Preferably it should run under vanilla 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.
thanks and best regards,
Yves
