Oh - I guess you will slap me for saying this ;-)
What about unmounting your devices before pulling the cable out? I
mean, most filesystems will corrupt, sooner or later, when you
continue to work like that. Even if it used to work in the past isn't
a reason to continue this faulty behaviour.
