Hello,
Unfortunately, I am unable to help you, as I have no experience with
reiserfs.
In the past I always preferred ext3/ext2 over reiserfs (reiserfs is even
Slackware's default FS!), because I "feared" reiserfs's tremendous
complexity. The filesystem is one of the few parts of the Linux OS where
I never wanted to experiment (and where I am happy to trade in
performance). So I went down the conservative path of ext3 by choosing a
traditional UNIX i-node based FS. reiserfs may be faster and efficient
with many small files, but contains much more code (and therefore more
bugs) and is more CPU intensive and may even be slower on slow CPUs.
I never ever lost data (or know someone or have read of someone in a
forum) on a filesystem with ext2/ext3.
Hans Reiser often had problems with Kernel Developers and is now unable
to develop reiserfs because he is in prison.
Greetings, Patrick
PS: ext4 is on the way!
