no. you can use ad-hoc mode, which is for connecting two wireless devices.
or you can run one card in AP mode, which means run it as access-point.

- - use a VPN..... separate your AP from the rest of your lan, and use VPN to
connect to that lan.
- - WAP .... the new crypt standard for wifi
- - WEP.... !!!don't trust!!! that.... no matter what keysize, it takes minutes
til it's cracked.

to limit access to
specific ETH adresses?
depends. you can craft your own AP, all you need is a wifi card on that
machine.
