This is from an older SMTP version - newer MTAs must implement
it so it will work, but clients should try using the newer
versions of SMTP, which call for "EHLO" instead of "HELO".
Oh, in case you were wondering about those mail contents - I
suppose that was a case of those extreme-right spams, sent
via zombies (Windows boxes infected with certain trojans)
which Heise was writing about. I guess some people connecting
through P&T got their systems infected.
