isn't customization one of the outstanding properties of linux that the
community is so proud of? so for the same reason that i personally
wouldn't bother much whether kde or gnome comes as default on my linux
distribution, i wouldn't care either about french or german being
default for google.lu, as long as one can customize it. besides,
computationally speaking, the differences between french and german are
so small that the same formalisms can be used to model both, so what? ;)

kymon
ps: for those being curious about luxembourgish: according to the
"Section de linguistique, d'ethnologie et d'onomastique" of the
"Institut Royal Grand-Ducal De Luxembourg" at
http://www.igd-leo.lu/ :
"When, pushed by incursions of the populations of Central Asia, the
nations of Germania moved westward, overthrowing on their turn the
frontiers and peoples of the Roman empire, the Franks settled down in
the Luxembourg area. Their language (Moselfränkisch) is at the origin of
the Luxembourg language."
note that a society using a -french- designation uses -english- to write
about the -germanic- origins of -luxembourgish-.
diversity and freedom of choice, let's be glad about it :)
