However, I can say that Skype for Linux still
isn't very mature. They do
not support alsa, so you have to run the skype binary through artsdsp.
have you checked the recently released skype ?
i had problems with arts too, so i made a script which calls "artsshell
terminate" and then skype. that way skype uses OSS and everything's fine.
currently i'm using kde3.4-b2, and have arts completly disabled, so no more
problems for me.
