A guy I know will soon need to get rid of an IBM AS400,
GNU/Linux most certainly runs! (The new name for these is "iseries")

Let's start a Debian port!
:-) Sounds like loads of work. While we're at it, we could
add a Knoppix port (apropos, what about a (Ultra)Sparc or
alpha port of Knoppix? I'm only aware of x86 and PPC ports).
I asked, should get an answer in the next days. I was assured
though that indeed Linux does run on this specific machine!
So, I have no idea where we could put such a beast (required
power supply, decent leased line, space etc.), but it'd sure be
fun to play with this.
Anyone in the club who knows his way around these IBM (as I
read earlier today, India Business Machines) machines?
And apropos "eccentric" machines - I happen to know about
a PA/RISC machine that should be discarded very soon (old
HP 9000 D-Class) - anyone interested in this kind of thing?
The original machine is rack-sized (not rack-mount, rack-size),
but the core of the beast is more like a normal tower - add
disks to it, and it'll work. It used to run an older HP/UX
version, but AFAIK a PA/RISC port of Linux exists.
