Good day lads,
I have a little issue with nginx as reverse proxy for an imap server.
Instead of retelling all of the story in this mail I'll rather point to the forums
I've been posting
about this:
http://www.zimbra.com/forums/administrators/39925-nginx-mail-proxy-times-ou…
What I need (I guess) is a suiting solution to debug that SSL connection timing out.
I've been
looking at the connection with tcpdump but let's not allow ourselves any illusions,
I don't really
know what I should be looking at.
Any tips?
D.
Maybe you try to "manually" connect to it using
openssl s_client -connect ...
If the imap server uses starttls rather than port 993, you can use the
options starttls
openssl s_client -connect localhost:143 -starttls imap
From there, you can "manually" issue your
commands, and see where it hangs.
If you also run an openssl s_server in another window, you can connect
your mail client to that one, and perform a manual "man in the middle"
by copy-pasting requests and replies with both. Obviously, this is only
practical if the hang happens relatively quickly after connect.
Regards,
Alain
