[Lilux-help] WiFi laptop on/off button

Hi guys & girls, problem: HP Laptop with IPW2200 WiFi card and special button to switch the WiFi on or off, system is Ubuntu 5.10 The card itself is recognized (no suprise there), but the damn thing is turned off, pressing the button won't turn it on either (/sys/bus/pci/drivers/ipw2200/*/rf_kill stays at the same value). Unfortunately, it's not possible to just echo 0 > .../rf_kill to turn the thing on (permission denied even for root on that HP, here on my box - where the button works - it was allowed but had no effect). iwconfig power seems to be only for managing the powersave-states, not to turn the thing on or off. Googling didn't really help so far, I checked the ipw2100.sf.net, ipw2200.sf.net and rfswitch.sf.net pages. Any ideas? Greetings & TIA, Eric
