Hello Dominique,
Welcome to the list! I believe there are a number of Linux distributions
tailored to visually impaired users. Vinux is the first that came to my
mind. This is the link to the project's website:
http://vinuxproject.org/
The Knoppix creator, Klaus Knopper, has implemented some time ago a
booting option to the Knoppix Live CD called ADRIANE (named after his
wife, I believe). When this option is invoked, the live CD should boot
in talking mode and supporting Braille out of the box:

One of the Debian developers also offers some interesting tips on his
website:

I hope this information will help you to progressively introduce
yourself into the Linux world. We are here to help.
Kind regards,
Miro

Hi all,
I am new on the list, and very happy to join you!
I am still using Windows as being visually impaired, but I run Cygwin
on it from where I manage my machine.
Waiting to read your messages about Linux...
Dominique
