Serge, open up a console and type in gnome-default-applications-properties
One of the options in there is the default browser. This will change the
default browser used by any Gnome applications (Evolution). You can also
select the default e-mail program in here as well (firefox is a gnome app).
For the KDE applications (kmail) type in kcontrol at the command prompt.
click on KDE Components --> Component Chooser then select Web Browser in the
component chooser box. In the "Open HTTP and HTTPS URLS" section tick the
"in the following browser" box and then type in the name of the browser that
you want to use.
