Thawte is one of the bigger names in the certificates business.
The risk there should be lower than with Verislime, unless they

Eh Thawte has been bought by Verislime, so there really is no more reason to
not prefer PGP/GPG ;)
Why would you want to use them for email signing? It
makes sense
for e-business websites, as most browsers can check those signatures
right away, but for email I'd prefer PGP/GnuPG.
If somebody on this list already uses this
service, could he/she then
notarize my ID?
If you generate your own PGP/GnuPG key, we'll happily sign it.
