[CivCTP on newer distributions]
You should probably try to play with
"strace" and see what you can get
out of it.
Maybe it's as simple as a missing library (in which case "ldd" would be
your friend)?
I did try strace, but the only interesting info I got was a number
of "file not found" messages - one of these days I'll try on my
older system where CivCTP runs correctly whether I get the same or
not. The files concerned were probably map information or somesuch.
By now I've also switched the distro on my laptop - to Kubuntu 5.10,
implying x.org etc. This was btw the quickest and "best" Linux
installation I've ever done on a laptop - almost everything got
configured correctly, including graphics, WLAN, sound and (mostly)
the synaptics touchpad.
For those wondering about the "mostly" about the touchpad: for some
reason horizontal scrolling using the scrollpad doesn't work in i.e.
konqueror or firefox (xev shows that the events are sent) - I've no
solution as yet.
The new distro didn't change the issues with CivCTP though ;-)
Greets & thx for the input,
Eric
