Hi,
my brother-in-law has as new installation of SuSE 9.3, with current
online updates (via YOU), on a classic x86 system.
His printer is an HP PSC 2110 all-in-one device.
Scanning works fine, no trouble there, but I can't seem to get
printing to work (it did fine with the older 8.3 installation).
The device is detected automatically by YaST, as psc2100series,
HP PSC 2110, PPD file HP PSC 2110 Foomatic/hpijs, connection
HP All-in-One Device /usb/PSC_2100_Series
I tried both the hpijs and gimp-print PPDs, no success.
I'd have tried configuration or at least more testing via CUPS in
http://localhost:631, but unlike Debian GNU/Linux systems, this one
doesn't take the root / rootpassword as authentication.
Any ideas on what to try?
Greetings & TIA, Eric

I just found your posting on [Lilux-help]
I ran in to the same problem a couple of minutes ago. Have you figured out a
way to do this?
I found a work around for it.
Download the package for xine-ui from:
http://www.djs-consulting.com/linux/xine_rpms.php
It is linked from xine-hq, so I guess it is trustworthy source. It complains
about some missing libs. Just ignore that (rpm -Uhv --nodeps ...)
Then you need to fix those errors by creating links to the libs you already
have on your system:
linux:/usr/lib64 # ln -s libssl.so libssl.so.4
linux:/usr/lib64 # ln -s libcrypt.so libcrypto.so.4
After that xine-ui runs fine here. BTW: Its only a problem of the UI, not
xine-lib!
Could you please post this to the list, so others can find the solution (If
you are still on the lilux-help list)!

Hello,
I search for a solution to get the ip address of a friends dsl
connection, but for a special reason I can/want not use classic
dyndns.org
What I need is more like a personal dyndns server. That means, instead
of setting up his ddclient script to update members.dyndns.org, I want
it to send updates to my ip and thus I need a service running on my box
that deals with his updates.
I found nothing on the internet that was dyndns2 compatible... does
anybody know if something like this exists, or to I have to study the
docs un how to create a dyndns client and write my own...?
Best regards,
Yves

Hi
I have a project here for testing switches. I made up a system (under
Linux) and now I need Etherrnet ports(cards).
We have received here Intels Pro Adapters (4 Ethernet ports), but these
cards only have PCIx Bus. (64Bit PCIx). The cards do not fit into a 32Bit
pci Slot.
So I need two servers with PCIx Bus. (complicated).
I am also looking for another solution (32 Bit PCI cards), but I don't
find cards with 4 ethernet ports.
Any idea welcome.
Thanx

Does anybody have some preferences for the dates (either next week:
21st of July, or the week after 28th of July).
The presentation will be DHCP and Named by Eric Dondelinger.
I for myself won't unfortunately be available of 28th (vacation), but
as 21st is too close (or can you be ready for 21st, Eric?)
Thx,
Alain
Hi gang, does anyone know of a simple way to synchronize a few user
directories on two computers? I've thought of using tar to do it, but he tar
archive is roughly 3 GB, which is a bit more that I want to mess with. Here
is the situation:
I have a desktop PC, that is my main computer at the house. It is the one
connected to the internet. When at home, I use this PC to do all of my work.
My second PC is a laptop. I use the laptop to take on the road and to do work
when my wife is using the main PC.
Currently I have an identical copy of my home directory on both PCs. Ideally,
what I want to be able to do is to synchronize the home directories
(basically 2 subfolders in my home directory) automatically. A tar archive
could in theory work, but I think it is a bit cumbersome.
I am running debian unstable on both systems (yes, I like to live
dangerously).

I am currently working on a dissertation for my MBA. I am looking into the
Linux services market, trying to get a feel for where it is now and where it
is likely to head in the next 3-5 years.
Would anyone be willing to speak with me about how your company is using
Unix/Linux, what your current plans are for it, and what is holding you back
from implementing those plans? I typically need 45 minutes of your time.
As I am working with a commercial company on this project, the results will
be used for commercial purposes as well as serving as the basis for my
dissertation. All comments will be completely anonymous -- there will be no
links between comments, individuals, companies, or even countries.
Thanks
Mike

Hi
In my case, solution was that I disconnect anonymously mapped shares. Right click
on "My Computer" and select "Disconnect Network Drive".
