Bonjour,

L'Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) est une
organisation de droit privé à but non lucratif.

Subject: ICANN meeting in Luxembourg - July 2005
Dear Mr laPlante,
I am writing you in my capacity of chair of the organizing committee of the
ICANN meeting, next July
2005 in Luxembourg.
As you know Luxembourg will chair the European Union the first semester of
2005. This meeting is one
of the events under the Presidency. This means that it will be a major focus
on all agendas and
generate a lot of activities. Since Luxembourg is quite centrally placed in
Europe, we expect a
large number of attendees to this meeting. Our expectations are a round 700
to 800 attendees, much
more than other ICANN meetings.
Obviously, organising such a large conference requires a lot of resources
for which we need to rely
on sponsorship. For Afilias, sponsorship at the meeting provides various
opportunities to have
visible exposure and reach out to the highest level of the international
community.
As organisers, we wish to form sponsorships with companies and organisations
that will take an
intelligent approach communicating with and among the Internet international
community. We also want
to learn from our sponsors by actively involving them and together,
identifying the most relevant
areas to their needs.
I would be most happy to discuss with you what Afilias expectations are and
hope we will find an
agreement.
We could meet either during the next IETF meeting in Washington DC - I will
attend the ISOC Board
of Trustees meeting on 12th and 13th November.
Or at ICANN Cape Town from 3 to 5 december.
My phone number is below. Ring me any time.
Yours sincerely,
Patrick Vande Walle

Patrick-
Many thanks for touching base and introducing yourself. It would be a
pleasure to meet you during the Cape Town meetings.
As my schedule is still being solidified, I'm not sure what the best
day/time will be so please forward your cell number or advise how best I
may reach you at the conference to arrange a meeting. I will be staying
at the Arabella Sheraton.
Best,
Brad

Dear Patrick,
It is great to hear from you. Congratulations on getting ICANN
Luxemburg! PIR will of course be a sponsor of ICANN Luxemburg. The
procedure that we have established with other ICANN sponsorships is that
because we are a non-profit, we generally get a discount, yet receive
equivalent visibility as large "for profit" sponsors. For example if a
gold level sponsorship is USD$10,000, we would get Gold level
sponsorship as a non-profit for USD$5,000. Our VP of Operations, Bruce
Beckwith bbeckwith(a)pir.org <mailto:bbeckwith@pir.org> coordinates PIR
sponsorships for ICANN. Please forward Bruce any of the material we need
to confirm our sponsorship.
I look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC.

Dear Ed,
You may remember me as the guy sitting next to you at the INET Barcelona
gala dinner earlier this year.
It is my pleasure to inform you that the Luxemburg Chapter of ISOC,
together with the Prime Minister's office and the Restena Foundation,
will organise a meeting of the ICANN in Luxembourg from 9 to 15 July
2005.
Luxembourg is quite central in Europe. Hence, we expect a large number
of attendees to this meeting.
Furthermore, since Luxembourg will preside the European Union during the
first semester, it will be a a major focus on all agendas, whether
political or cultural and generate a lot of activities alongside the
political events.
Obviously, organising such a large conference requires a lot of
resources for which we need to rely on sponsorship. For PIR, sponsorship
at the meeting provides various opportunities to have visible exposure
and reach out to the highest level of the international community.
As organisers, we wish to form sponsorships with companies and
organisations that will take an intelligent approach communicating with
and among the Internet international community. We also want to learn
from our sponsors by actively involving them and together, identifying
the most relevant areas to their needs.
I will be in Washington DC to attend the ISOC Board of Trustees meeting
on 12th and 13th November. I hope we can meet to discuss how PIR could
get involved in this meeting.
Yours sincerely,
